The Town of Pictou

The Pictou Lobster Carnival takes place in the Town of Pictou which is located on the beautiful Northumberland Shore of Nova Scotia, Canada. Pictou is known as the “Birthplace of New Scotland” as it was here where the first wave of Scottish immigrants landed in 1773. Our Town offers diverse amenities, period homes on tree-lined streets, and strong entrepreneurial spirit. Our residents enjoy a relaxed lifestyle with a mixture of old world charm and culture together with modern facilities and friendly hospitality. Fishing has always been a big part of the livelihood of the people of the area and the carnival festival helps to celebrate this way of life and the many traditions and cultures.
